Studious, Tyzias often stays up late into the day to study Alternian law. This often ends up with her being tired and yet somehow she manages despite her sleep deprivation. She’s discovered loopholes in the laws that can be exploited to make a better system, holding highbloods more accountable for their actions and cullings, and during one particular project on the subject she stumbled upon information regarding a past rebellion.
She’s well aware of how messed up her home is, and it hurts for her to see the kind of suffering that others, especially lowbloods, go through. She cares a lot about other people, trolls and even the alien that she’s befriended, and wants actual justice instead of the pitiful mockery of it that Alternia favors. She wants things to change, but knowing how past rebellions and uprisings have failed, she believes the only way that things are going to change is by trolls on the inside. Trolls who know how the system works and know how to get the highbloods to see the benefits in these changes. Even if said changes are worded carefully so they think they’re helping themselves out and making themselves look better.
She’s not all that big on manners or keeping things just so. Order, despite her mandatory job and her matesprit’s focus on it, isn’t all that reflected in her life except where necessary. Her clothes are bare of her sign except for a small pin that can be taken off, and she leans towards keeping things in a disorganized mess. Of course, even with this and her being almost eternally tired, she’s not stupid enough to let evidence of her rebellious thoughts and inclinations slip into places where other trolls could find them. Like her office in the courthouse for example. She also isn’t as adverse to swearing as Tagora is, even if he does it too and is really bad at hiding it.
All of this being kept in mind, it’s no surprise that she finds it hard to let others help her out. With the little things it’s not usually a big deal, and ever since her encounter and budding friendship with the alien from Earth, she’s made some effort into letting others help. That doesn’t mean she isn’t hard on herself still. Her outward demeanor doesn’t really lend itself to her being this way though, because of her sleep deprivation. She instead strives for something of the opposite, an office cryptid of a sort. Her quirk also forms in the extension of her m’s and w’s, giving her an always tired, if somewhat lazy sounding voice both in speech and in text. She even goes as far as to cultivate rumors, such as her mysterious mug of strange liquid, so that others won’t be on the lookout for what secrets she’s really hiding.
While she keeps most people at arm's length, when she does let someone in, she tends to open up a lot. With her matesprit, Stelsa, she’s been dropping very heavy, very blatant hints about the rebellion and her agreeing with it. Even while knowing that Stelsa believes the hemospectrum does good, that it keeps order, or so she says anyway. Stelsa believes this to be some sort of phase, but Tyzias knows for a fact that it isn’t. Otherwise she wouldn’t be so passionate about it or work as hard as she is to change things from the inside.
Her work ethic backs up her drive to find any kind of new information to be able to use as a tool that could further her efforts. And this does include information that could wind up with her getting very much killed, as she dives deeper into the rebellions of the Signless and the Summoner.
Tyzias can also be stubborn. Yet this, in volume 13 when we see who her
matesprit is, we see just how deep she’s really gone. Her matesprit believe that the rebellious thoughts and notions of equality is a phase, something that will pass. Tyzias knows full well that it isn’t, and though she hasn’t outright said anything to her, she has left a book on the subject in amongst her otherwise neat and orderly hive. Just, sitting there, in her bathroom of all places, to try and let her know that she isn’t changing. She isn’t going back and won’t ever delude herself into believing that the hemospectrum as it is now, does any really good for anyone but those on the highest of rungs.
Something of note about her is that she is both Blood Bound and a Prospit Dreamer, and both are capable of giving further insight into her personality more than what is shown so far in the canon of the game.
The aspect of Blood can be thought of as literal blood, yes, but also as bonds, responsibility, and all of the other things which tie you to someone or something. Those with this aspect, depending on how they interact with it, are the inspirational leaders, the prophets, the advisors. They draw strength from the bonds they make and share with others. To quote directly from the Extended Zodiac, “At their best, they are charismatic, uplifting, and magnetic. At their worst they can be sullen, unkind, and set-in-their-ways”.
Now, with a Prospit dreamer, they tend to be adaptive, intuitive, and optimistic. To quote directly from the Extended Zodiac, “Naturally trusting, they have trouble with deception or hiding their true selves, and will often worry about what others think of them. The self they project into the world is often not under their control”. They tend to solve things with their adaptive mindset instead of following a strict set of rules, and rather than being outright rebellious, they trend toward working within the rules they’re given, and like having some sort of laid out routine and boundaries for themselves.
Comparing this to what we’ve seen of Tyzias, this both fits her well, while at the same time, parts of it fall through the cracks. But not everyone is going to fit the mold perfectly. Yes, she’s optimistic and adaptable but she has no problem with deception and she’s rebelling even if it is working within the framework she’s given to change things. She can be cynical, too, in how she’s aware that the present in her society is rather dark. She’s scouring the past for clues, for answers into how she can change the future for the better. Her nature as a Blood Bound also makes dealing with the hemospectrum as it is a hard pill to swallow. She’s empathetic toward Tirona’s gung ho attitude toward moving up on a ladder in which there is not much room to move at all. You are stuck where you are, and Tyzias sees this and knows this. Even when Tirona was trying to literally turn her in for treason, she still feels sorry for the other Teal blood, as she’s one shining example of everything that’s messed up with Alternia.
Abilities:Immune to Acid (Rain) - It’s unknown what kind of acid this rain is, at least not yet, but Alternia certainly has it, and trolls certainly don’t seemed to be harmed by it. All we really know about it is that it creates mini explosions, and of course Alternian architecture would be built then to withstand that as if it were just water.
Endurance - Tyzias specifically is able to only sleep once a week and, while tired, she seems relatively fine and able to function otherwise. Those of higher castes, notably Jades, Teals, and upward, are also known to be tougher and more likely to survive grievous injuries.
Alien (Troll) Physiology & Psychology - Trolls are at least somewhat influenced by insects. They also have horns, blood colors that determine potential powers and lifespan, and are capable of producing sounds out of the human range of hearing, if only on the low end (that we know of so far). As their sun can and will kill them, trolls are by proxy a nocturnal species.
As for the psychology bit, being nocturnal could be considered part of it but there’s also going to be things about humans and other gods that don’t make sense to Tyzias, and also things that make sense to her but not make much sense to others. Such as the romantic system involving four different types and the varying nuances surrounding it all, why no one as a general rule should touch her horns, and also her being prone to debilitating night/day terrors when she goes to sleep unless she’s sedated.
Tealblood - As a teal, she’s somewhere in between the green midbloods and the blue highbloods, being a not-quite-there nobility as a result. She doesn’t get any real special powers or abilities but her lifespan is somewhere in the low hundreds of sweeps. One sweep is 2.17 Earth years. Higher castes also seem to have sharper teeth, resistance to psychic abilities, and lower body temperatures.
Alternian Law - She’s very familiar with the Alternian law system, she’s been learning this stuff since she was little after all, and it wouldn’t be much of a stretch for her to grasp other systems of law with enough time and effort.
Strengths:Empathetic - She has a big heart to help people and a strong sense of justice.
Studious - She throws herself into her studies to work within the realm of the law, as all Tealbloods have to do some type of civil service/law related job. In part this is making sure she doesn’t get herself killed, and it’s the only way she knows of that might be able to make the lives of mid and lowbloods better in the long term.
Disciplined - Just because she isn’t really one to take proper care of herself or, at least her sleeping habits, doesn’t mean she’s not disciplined. She is, if only because being disciplined and making sure never to have her research into the Signless and Summoner be found means staying alive another night.
Passionate - Despite how she gives off that tired, even a little lazy, sort of vibe, Tyzias is really passionate about what she does and what she’s hoping to accomplish.
Driven - Passionate doesn’t necessarily always mean motivated, or having a strong worth ethic. In Tyzias’s case, she has a drive that is nearing something bordering the the realm of workaholic and this is primarily directed toward the side project she’s been digging into with the Signless Sufferer.
Weaknesses:Manipulative: She’s content with letting others spread rumors about herself and even encourages it, as it draws attention away from the actual secrets she has to hide. She’s also willing to reword her goals when speaking to highbloods in order for them to think like it’s a good idea, however hasn’t been given an opportunity to do so yet.
Lethargic: Staying up for as long as she does and working/studying as hard as she does leaves Tyzias exhausted most of the time.
Mistrustful: This is her keeping most people at arm's length, and it’s understandable what with secret she’s keeping. It’s also, in part, due to her focusing on her work and believing she doesn’t have the time or energy to invest in a lot of close relationships, especially those of more romantic natures, as evident in that she only has a matesprit.
Cynical: Breaking the optimistic hope that things can be better is a cynical outlook in regard to how things are now, in her world. For as much as she’d like things to be fair, to be even just marginally better, she can’t be that way without knowing exactly what’s wrong.
Stubborn: She can be stubborn, as shown by her refusal to give herself adequate rest and focus heavily on her studies and her research and how she’s treating the things she’s learning from looking into the Signless so seriously.
God/Shinki:God
Why?:Tyzias is not used to having power or the freedom to do whatever she wants, what with growing up in a rigid caste system, so giving her that kind of power and freedom will no doubt have some interesting consequences.
Top 3 Choices:(1) Themis (Goddess of Divine order, Fairness, Law, Natural law, and Custom)
(2) Minerva (Goddess of Poetry, Medicine, Wisdom, Strategic warfare, Commerce, Weaving, and the Crafts)
(3) Saraswati (Goddess of Knowledge, Music, Art, Wisdom and Learning)
God Type:Tyzias would certainly do her best to be seen as a benevolent deity. She may no doubt try to treat all of her followers and the wishes she gets fairly, however the chance of her favoring students going into the civil services and law fields gaining her favor is there, no matter if she is a deity of wisdom or a deity of the law.
Power:Empathy - Tyzias would have the ability to sense and feel the emotions of those around her. However, she would not be able to amplify or manipulate those emotions, nor would she be able to project her own emotions out to others (aside from what a normal person could see or sense). This power would not be limited to a range of others, but would be instead limited to how well she knows them and how close they are. Strangers and Acquaintances, she would only be able to get the sense of negative or positive emotions and if they are directed towards her or not. Followers she would be able to sense basic emotions (sadness, anger, happiness, etc., generalized still) and who they’re directed at, her or otherwise. Strong emotions from these she might feel the echoes of. For those she may develop romantic relationships with or consider to be family and friends, she’ll be able to sense more complex emotions and feel them in full.
Writing SampleSample:Tyzias wakes with a startled noise, bolting up straight into a sitting position and looking at her surroundings with mounting confusion. She had been in her hive, last she knew. Her book, that she’d been keeping all of her research into the Signless and the Summoner in as she was going through them, was in one hand. The mug of water that she had with her nearly everywhere she went was in her other hand, yet empty. The troll, realizing that the hive she was in was in no way familiar to her, let out a heavy sigh and rose to her feet.
She would get nowhere if she did not move. Perhaps by looking around she could find whoever was in charge here, or ideally, find out just how and why she was brought here.
A quick glance down at herself told her that yes, she was dressed in her usual outfit and the pin with her sign was still there. Good. One less thing to worry over. Another glance to her book, and a third to the mug, had her gripping both items tighter and holding the book against her chest. Just because she was in unfamiliar territory did not mean she was safe, as much as she’d like to be.
Hours into the future, but not many, Tyzias was more or less informed of the basics, of where she was (an alien planet far from the reach of the empire), what she was (some kind of deity, which she’d have to look more into), what she can do (she had powers?), and what was now expected of her. Of course there was something and she wouldn’t be given this huge boon for free. Being inadvertently freed from the hemospectrum? Not technically having sleep as a requirement of her basic needs to function? Yeah, of course there would be some kind of catch too it. At least with what the emissary was saying, it didn’t seem to be too bad of a deal.
There was somewhere that she had to go first, and things that needed doing, but after that was done, well, there was one place she wanted to visit, and thus one question that she had to ask now before all others.
“Wwwwhere’s the nearest bookhive?”
OtherAnything Else?:Nothing that I can think of at the moment.
